Demolition

Demolition

It sounds so violent, “Demolition,” the stuff of epic movies.  When you watch a structure be demolished in the real world, it has much less to do with what you see on TV, and more to do with the systematic dismantling of the existing structure (albeit using a big Tonka Truck-like machine).  For structures that have more value than others, we try to use “de-construction” companies to actually disassemble the existing structure.  The Green movement in our area has given rise to a few companies specializing in the manual “un-building” of older homes to reuse (not recycle) the building components.  Those portions that are not reusable get recycled, so the impact to the landfill is very minimal.  For most structures, this dis-assembly process can be cost prohibitive, so at the very least, the components of the structures we demolish are recycled in a sorting-out process at area waste transfer stations and recycling centers.
