Painting Wood & Trims
Painting DIY especially on trim can be a tricky thing. The trim is the thing that makes or breaks the looks of the room. Since the wood trim in your house is the part that brings style to the room or home. Just by changing the color can greatly affect the looks of the room. The quality and condition of the wood is a very important factor in the looks of the wood trim.
If you’re going to do your own painting DIY you must make sure that your preparation work is done 1st and well. In many cases if the trim work was never repeated after the home was bought in a regular subdivision type home and probably it was not my sanding done. Since sanding is a very time-consuming process most construction house painting contractors won’t budget for the extra time it takes to sand properly. So the 1st thing that you should do is do a proper and thorough sanding.
Once everything is sanded down nicely and next thing to do is to look for open gaps where the door casing and the door jam meet likewise on the other side were the wall meets the door casing. Here a very fine bead of caulking should be laid into the gaps. Make sure that you don’t smear caulking over the rest of the wood this will also show up as a mess if you paint over it. Quick Note: if you do get some smears of caulking on the wood wash it off with water because you won’t be able to sand it off.
This process does take some practice and experience to have a good-looking product. Everyone seems to think they know how to paint and they probably do but the question is “how well?” So let us take care of your “painting DIY” project. We will do it neatly quickly and efficiently.
